Applications are currently being accepted for Outreach Coordinator in the Outreach department, located at San Diego Mesa College). Hours are M-Tu 8am-6pm Wed-Th 8-5pm F 8-1pm, subject to change, some weekends and evenings. Selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the department's needs.

Under general supervision of the Dean of Student Affairs, this position coordinates an array of community outreach activities and functions related to recruiting and enrolling new and continuing students into the college; promotes the college's educational programs, vocational (CTE) careers, work base learning programs, and related services to new and prospective students. Collaborates and partners with feeder high schools and community agencies; meets with prospective students and determines their eligibility for placement into the programs; plans, organizes, and coordinates on and off campus community outreach events to attract and inform prospective students about the college's educational programs. Collaborates with various campus departments to promote and encourage use of resources and services Oversees the San Diego Promise Program for Mesa College including enrollment, events and workshops. Provides overall supervision of the Outreach Office, promise program, and the Assessment Office.

The following duties are typical for this classification:
  • Assist with enrollment management.
  • Supervise Assessment office. Provide oversight and guidance on Assessment efforts and initiatives
  • Participate in community based, faith based, and business outreach activities.
  • Coordinate in reach activities.
  • Assist in the development and use of a tracking and evaluation system to evaluate the progress of students from their recruitment through enrollment.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of student orientation programs for new and/or returning students.
  • Assist with coordination and planning of JumpStart Your Success Day.
  • Closely collaborate with both on and off campus departments assisting with student success.
  • Serve as the central clearinghouse for other college departments that participate in the college's recruiting and outreach efforts.
  • Assist in the development of materials for outreach and recruitment.
  • Schedule and participate in presentations to feeder schools and community entities, and conduct tours and presentations on campus as well as train others to do so.
  • Prepare and monitor the department's annual budget, and prepare the department's annual program plan.
  • Represent the college at off-campus functions and events.
  • Participate in meetings of college personnel and representatives from feeder school districts.
  • Provide clearly written reports, program plans, and event plans, when requested or appropriate.
  • Develop, implement, and assess Service Area Outcomes, Program Review and other related
    outcomes for outreach services.
  • Supervise and train student workers and graduate interns.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • Coordinates and provides leadership to the college's outreach functions which may include, but not be limited to, recruitment, the development of relationships with K-12 districts, and the development of relationships with community entities from which potential students are recruited.
  • Serve as an initial point of contact for members of the local community and local school districts desiring information about the college.
  • Assist in the development of necessary programs and services designed to assure students' access, ease of entry and successful transition into college.

  • Plan and work effectively and cooperatively with peers, faculty, administrators, staff, student and community members from multicultural, diverse backgrounds. Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
  • Meet schedules and time lines; plan and organize work effectively.
  • Organize multiple projects and carry out required project details.
  • Evaluate department programs and functions and make recommendations for continuous quality improvement.
  • Organize and chair meetings, lead workshops, facilitate group discussions and involve staff in
    idea generation, goal setting and decision-making.

Education and Experience Guidelines:
  • A Bachelors degree, preferred.
  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in student services or related field.
