Job Description:


The Dean of Enrollment, Retention & Completion will ensure that STCC meets its enrollment, retention and completion goals and delivers positive, student-centered services to all prospective and current students. Reporting to the Vice President of Student Affairs, the Dean will lead the development and implementation of a multi-year strategic enrollment management plan to grow enrollment, improve the College's retention and graduation rates, leveraging STCC's unique position within higher education and the value proposition for prospective students, their families and the community at large. The Dean leads the integrated delivery of enrollment and retention services including outreach, admissions, new student orientation, testing and placement, early college initiatives, international student services and retention related student support services. The Dean serves as a key Student Affairs division leader charged with delivering service excellence and actively contributing to institution-wide enrollment, retention and completion efforts.

The Dean is expected to incorporate higher education and community college best practices into the vision, strategy and practices of the department. The College is seeking a bold and innovative leader who will work collaboratively to ensure strong enrollment and dramatic increases in STCC student success. The College seeks candidates who, through their work and life experiences, service to the community, and teaching and/or research, can contribute to our diversity, inclusivity, and equity goals.

Responsibilities:
  • Serves as a key leader in ensuring that all assigned functional areas have processes, policies, technology, and resources necessary to achieve enrollment, retention and student success goals.
  • Ensures compliance with college policy and procedures, and state and federal laws and regulations in all areas of oversight.
  • Maintains knowledge of best practices, new developments and innovative enrollment and retention strategies in community colleges and higher education; recommends changes to maintain relevance of programs and services to meet student and institutional needs.
  • Implements and maintains systems to monitor the progress of students from outreach through enrollment, retention and completion.
  • Supervises, supports, and mentors direct reports in assigned departments.
  • Maintains overall responsibility for planning, management and monitoring of assigned budgets.
  • Collaborates across divisions to improve the College's ability to serve students with intention and excellence.
  • Meets and regularly collaborates with institutional research, academic affairs, marketing/communications, etc. to review and report out on data, ensuring effective communication of program information and institutional outcomes.
  • Represents the College and department at appropriate state meetings and planning sessions as they relate to assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the philosophy and mission of a comprehensive community college.
  • Works collaboratively in a diverse, inclusive and student-centered environment, and with students and prospective students of various learning styles, cultures, identities, and life-experiences.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities related to those listed above which do not alter the basic level of the position.



Requirements:


  • Master's degree in education, higher education, counseling, social work or closely related field; with five (5) or more years of progressive leadership involving college admissions, enrollment management, and retention initiatives; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • The ability to develop and implement innovative recruitment and retention models, enrollment management practices, which are informed by national best practices related to the needs of the community college student.
  • In-depth knowledge of admissions, student records processing, student information systems and related state and federal regulations.
  • A desire and demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and guide teams to meet and exceed enrollment and retention goals.
  • The ability to deliver results in a complex environment despite obstacles and challenges.
  • Experience in budget, supervision, student services planning and data management required.
  • The ability to develop, carry out, explain, and interpret policy.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and use data-analytics and predictive modeling to enhance enrollment management initiatives.
  • Experience serving diverse populations and a demonstrated commitment to equity.
  • The ability to maintain effective, collaborative working relationships with internal and external colleagues and constituents.
  • Experience with Ellucian Student Information Systems preferred.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

Works in an office setting. Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. The individual needs to move about inside the office to access office machinery. Constantly operates a computer and other equipment i.e. copier. This person frequently communicates with students, faculty and staff. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. Must have a valid driver's license and be willing to travel.


Additional Information:


Salary: $110,000-120,000 per annum plus fringe benefits, state-funded position. Starting salary will be dependent upon qualifications and experience. Twelve month position.

Position Classification: Non-Unit Professional

Work Schedule: 37.5 hours per week (Monday - Friday). Requires flexibility to work occasional evenings and/or weekends as demand dictates.
