Position:
The Community College of Aurora is looking for an inclusive and engaging instructor to teach a Spring 2020 ANT 101 Cultural Anthropology Course on Mondays and Wednesdays from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM. The successful candidate will also be included in the instructor pool for consideration for Summer 2020 and Fall 2020 courses.

CCA is committed to providing quality instruction and maintains high academic standards as well as a strong commitment to the success of our students. The Social Science Department represents a diverse and multi-disciplinary collection of outstanding academic programs where instructors engage in a collegial and collaborative environment. The department also offers numerous avenues for new instructors to sharpen their pedagogical craft through professional development opportunities, faculty mentoring, Inclusive Excellence trainings, and participation in curriculum development or equity initiatives.


Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Effectively teach Anthropology courses
  • Adopt an inclusive excellence framework which meets the needs of individual students, integrates culturally responsive pedagogies, and strives to incorporate diverse sources and readings into the course
  • Evaluate or assess student performance in accordance with student learning outcomes as stated in the course syllabus
  • Promote student success through engaging instruction, success, and rigor
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and grading of students in CCA's learning management system (Desire to Learn) and submit required records according to department protocol, convention, and deadlines
  • Complete a departmental orientation for the first year
  • Uphold the mission, values and institutional outcomes of the college
  • Abide by all relevant CCA, CCCS, and SBCCOE policies and procedures

    Required Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Anthropology OR a Master's Degree in a related field and 18 graduate credit hours in Anthropology
  • Willingness to learn about and incorporate the Inclusive Excellence Framework into pedagogy

    Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Anthropology
  • College-level teaching experience in Anthropology
  • Experience teaching in a diverse community-college setting
  • Knowledge and understanding of Inclusive Excellence

    Salary: Instructional hours will be paid at the current adjunct rate, which is $800 per credit hour. Many of our courses are three credit hours. Site training and coordination will be paid on a contract basis.
