The Clinical Instructor for the radiologic technology program must have active credentials through the (ARRT) American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and hold state licensure for radiography in Massachusetts. The clinical instructor is supervised by the Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education and/or Program Coordinator of the Radiologic Technology Program. He/she has an overall responsibility for supervising Radiologic Technology students in the clinical setting.

Specific job responsibilities include but not necessarily limited to the following:

Demonstrates and teaches patient care in clinical units to radiologic technology students and instructs students in principals of radiography.
The Clinical Instructor is responsible to direct and assist the student to any specialized units within the hospital when they are rotated.
Supervises radiologic technology students while performing patient care and performing competencies.
Exhibit a positive professional attitude toward students and the teaching process.
Utilize positive interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrates competency in instructional and evaluation methods.
Provides a positive role model for students.
Conduct weekly film critique for assigned students.
Assign specific radiology examinations for student completions.
Maintain records of student's clinical experiences and performance as prescribed by the Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education.
Maintain confidentiality in accordance with program policy.
Participates in planning daily clinical curriculum.
Cooperates with medical and nursing personnel in evaluating and improving teaching and radiologic technology practices.
Serves as a liaison between the college and the clinical site.
Instructs and guides radiologic technologist students in specialized areas.
Report any and all issues and concerns related to student progress to the Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education as soon as possible.
Is responsible for evaluating and documenting student's clinical competency for each clinical procedure as outlined each semester.
Evaluate student progress weekly through verbal feedback and written weekly performance evaluations.
The instructor will work within the respiratory care program, under the supervision of the Academic Clinical Coordinator, with a dotted line report to the Dean of the School of Health and program coordinator.
The instructor must demonstrate the ability to respond to and work with diverse and varied student populations and support the mission of the College.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Associates degree in Radiologic Technology from an ARRT accredited institution.
Must have current experience, 3 years minimum.
Must be a current member of ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists).
Must be current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Must have current Massachusetts Radiologic Technologist (RT) license.
All candidates should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Applicants must have a flexible schedule, including ability to work evenings and weekends.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Duties normally performed in a classroom/lab environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must have the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Must have the ability to bend, stoop, sit, climb, walk and reach overhead as needed.

Additional Information:

Salary: $60.00 per hour.

Work Schedule: Days and Evening clinical rotations. Approximately up to 8 hours per week.
