POSITION: Part-Time Campus Navigator: Lawrence Campus & Community Relations; Lawrence Campus (45 Franklin St.); up to 18 hours/week.
SUMMARY: The Campus Navigator serves as a welcoming, high-visibility ambassador for the Lawrence Campus and is a key point of contact for students, families, visitors, faculty, staff, and community partners. Positioned in the Dimitry Building lobby, a central hub of activity on the Lawrence Campus, the Campus Navigator provides clear guidance, supportive customer service, and timely information about campus programs, services, and events.
Through frequent interaction with members of the campus and surrounding community, the Campus Navigator helps ensure that every person entering the Lawrence Campus feels welcomed, supported, and confidently connected to the resources they need. This role plays an important part in strengthening the student and visitor experience and advancing NECC's commitment to accessibility, inclusion, and community engagement.
REPORTS TO: Associate Director, Lawrence Campus & Community Relations
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Welcome visitors and serve as the first point of contact, providing a warm, professional, and solutions-oriented experience.
- Provide clear directions to classrooms, offices, service areas, and other campus locations, and escort visitors to their destinations when needed.
- Provide accurate information about programs, services, events, and resources available on the Lawrence Campus.
- Listen attentively to visitors, ask clarifying questions, and provide appropriate information, guidance, or referrals based on their needs.
- Communicate effectively with both Spanish- and English-speaking visitors to promote equitable access to campus information and services.
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive, respectful, and service-oriented environment that reflects the values of Northern Essex Community College.
- Monitor lobby activity and visitor flow to help maintain an orderly, safe, and welcoming environment.
- Identify and appropriately escalate safety, security, or visitor concerns to the appropriate College staff.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
NOTE: Unless otherwise noted, all required qualifications must be met by date of hire.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrated customer service skills and the ability to provide a friendly, positive, and supportive experience to visitors.
- Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated active listening skills and the ability to understand visitor needs and provide appropriate assistance or referrals.
- Professional demeanor and the ability to interact courteously and effectively with a diverse range of students, employees, visitors, and community members.
- Ability to walk visitors to classrooms, offices, service areas, and other campus locations as needed.
- Ability to stand intermittently for periods of time in a high-traffic lobby environment.
- Demonstrated reliability and punctuality, with the ability to maintain consistent attendance and work scheduled hours.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience providing customer service, reception, front desk support, or assistance in a public-facing environment.
- Experience working with or serving diverse populations, particularly within a multicultural or multilingual community.
- Familiarity with Northern Essex Community College, its Lawrence Campus, or the programs and services offered by a community college.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- All candidates must have legal authorization to work in the United States. Northern Essex Community College does not provide employment-based visa sponsorship.
- Employment is contingent upon the successful completion and review of a background check which will include CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) and SORI (Sex Offender Registry Information).

SALARY: $16.00/hour, non-benefited position
