Job Description Summary:
Austin Community College (ACC) is seeking a highly skilled and versatile Endpoint Engineer to manage, automate, and support both Windows and macOS endpoints across the college. This role blends systems administration, automation, and security to deliver a stable, modern, and secure endpoint computing environment for faculty and staff. The Endpoint Engineer will own deployment, configuration, lifecycle management, and integrations with TeamDynamix and other ITSM tools, supporting ACC's mission of reliable technology and student success.
Job Description:
Description of Duties
- Manage, engineer, and support the college's Windows and macOS endpoint environments using MECM/SCCM, Workspace ONE, and JAMF Pro.
- Automate deployments, patching, application distribution, and endpoint compliance using PowerShell, Bash, Python, and other scripting tools.
- Administer JAMF Pro and Apple Business Manager for macOS device provisioning, security enforcement, and application packaging.
- Build and maintain Windows 10/11 desktop and laptop images (MDT, Hyper-V), coordinate driver and firmware updates, and manage baseline software.
- Integrate and maintain endpoint management tools (JAMF Pro, Workspace ONE, MECM/SCCM) with TeamDynamix for device inventory, asset management, ticketing, and automation workflows.
- Enforce configuration and security policies through Active Directory GPOs, JAMF policies, BitLocker, FileVault, and antivirus solutions.
- Manage the device lifecycle, including onboarding, support, secure decommissioning, and asset tracking for all endpoints.
- Provide Tier 3 & 4 support for endpoint issues and serve as an escalation point for support teams.
- Collaborate with IT security, support teams, and college stakeholders to drive process improvement, documentation, and compliance.
- Stay current on endpoint management best practices, new technologies, and trends in higher education IT.
Endpoint Engineering & Automation
- Design, build, and maintain standardized Windows and macOS images, ensuring secure, efficient, and consistent deployments.
- Automate endpoint management tasks, patch cycles, and software rollouts across both platforms.
- Support and optimize integrations with TeamDynamix for asset, incident, and change management.
macOS Endpoint Management
- Administer JAMF Pro and Apple Business Manager, implement zero-touch deployments, manage application packaging, and enforce FileVault and antivirus policies.
- Write and maintain automation scripts (Bash, Python, AppleScript) for deployment and compliance.
- Provide Tier 3 support for complex macOS endpoint issues.
Windows Endpoint Management
- Design and maintain Windows images with MDT and Hyper-V, automate deployments using PowerShell, Workspace ONE, and MECM/SCCM.
- Manage Windows update/patch cycles, device compliance, driver libraries, and enforce security via Active Directory GPOs and endpoint protection tools.
- Provide Tier 3 support for Windows endpoints and manage the full device lifecycle.
Cross-Platform Collaboration
- Partner with collegewide business owners, development teams, and technology leaders to ensure effective endpoint governance, policy enforcement, and process automation.
- Document procedures, provide user guides, and deliver training as needed.
- Provide excellent customer service and proactive communication to faculty, staff, and IT partners.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL).
- Customer service techniques and practices.
- Understanding of Relational Database Theory.
- Database development and maintenance.
- Familiarity with CAD software.
- Knowledge in various programming languages (Java, Perl, Python, C++ etc.).
- Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills, with a collaborative and customer-focused approach.
Technology Skills
- Certifications: JAMF 200/300, Microsoft 365 Modern Desktop Admin, ITIL Foundation, Okta, or similar.
- Experience using an ITSM platform such as TeamDynamix or ServiceNow.
- Knowledge of modern MDM/endpoint management strategies (Intune, Workspace ONE).
- Additional scripting or automation skills (AppleScript, Ruby, PHP).
- Previous experience in higher education or public sector IT.
- Endpoint Management: JAMF Pro, Apple Business Manager, Workspace ONE, MECM/SCCM, Intune.
- ITSM & Automation: TeamDynamix, ServiceNow, or other service management platforms.
- Scripting: PowerShell, Bash, Python, AppleScript.
- Security & IAM: Okta, Azure AD, FileVault, BitLocker, MDM, GPOs.
- Other: Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, device and asset management integrations.
- Proven scripting background (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
- Experience with endpoint lifecycle management, security compliance, and platform integration.

Required Work Experience

Preferred Work Experience
- Bachelor's degree, or at least 5 years of equivalent professional experience.
- Three or more years of hands-on experience managing either Windows or macOS endpoints in a large environment, with working familiarity of the other platform.
Required Education
- Bachelor's degree.
Four years of related work experience may substitute for this education requirement. Applicants who substitute work experience to meet the education requirement must use additional related work experience to meet the years of "Required Work Experience" for this position.
Special Requirements:
- Valid Texas Driver's License and reliable transportation for inter-campus duties.
