The Associate Director of Student Financial Services, Financial Aid is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, and overseeing the reporting function for Student Financial Services. The Associate Director collaborates with the Division of Student Affairs on student success initiatives centered around enrollment, retention, and completion. The Associate Director is responsible for financial aid reporting, verification of students' files, determining student Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) status, and ensuring that the team is providing high quality service. The Associate Director leads efforts to facilitate outreach, promotion and equitable distribution of financial support, scholarships, aid and resources to students.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Counsels/advises students and families related to financial aid application procedures, available resources, eligibility guidelines, regulations, loans and special circumstances.
  • Assists with preparation of reports, correspondence, and information required by the institution as well as federal, state, and third party agencies including external auditors.
  • Performs file review and Return to Title IV (RT24) calculations on an individual student basis.
  • Manage, lead and support financial aid counselors in the file review and verification process.
  • Responsible for financial aid fund management, setting up packaging and ultimately packaging throughout the year, swapping out of funds, and knowing the eligibility of each fund.
  • Runs reports and builds queries using reporting tools.
  • Responsible for the knowledge and implementation of regulatory guidance and Federal Student Aid Handbook.
  • Assists with State Financial Aid program distribution and reconciliation with the Massachusetts Office of Financial Assistance (OSFA) on programs such as MassGrant, MassGrant Plus, MassReconnect, MassEducate, etc.
  • Serve as a liaison between Student Financial Services, other departments, students, families, faculty, schools, libraries, consultants, temporary/part time staff, community organizations, the public, outside agencies, and other individuals to coordinate activities.
  • Interacts with various agencies/individuals and serves as an intermediary to help to resolve students' issues involving coordination of benefits and financial aid.
  • Conducts workshops and disseminates financial aid information to prospective students, current students, families and the college community.
  • Assist with supervision of assigned staff (i.e.- assist with recruitment, hiring, and training of new staff; instructs assigned staff in performance of duties according to established standards; prioritizes, assigns, reviews, and coordinates work; assists with complex or problem situations and provides direction; responds to employee issues and concerns; assists with interviewing and selecting new employees or work study participants).
  • Collaborates on the review of SAP status and appeals processes, and determines SAP eligibility on an individual basis, on an as-needed basis.
  • Represent STCC at various organizational meetings that require the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)/financial aid information.
  • Contributes to a work environment that encourages and promotes diversity and inclusion.
  • Demonstrates 100% time-on-task; adheres to college and routine office procedures, and regulations.
  • Participate in college, division, department meetings, events and training as recommended and approved by the supervisor.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities, college committees, work groups and task forces, and other professional organizations as approved by supervisor
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities related to those listed above which do not alter the basic level of the position.


Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of experience in the financial aid field is required.
  • Knowledge of software systems used in the administration of state and federal financial aid programs (Ellucian Colleague preferred).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and detail oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal Title IV regulations, state financial aid policies and programs; needs analysis, verification, awarding, Satisfactory Academic Progress and direct loan processing.
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills, and the ability for creative problem-solving strategies, team-building, process re-design and innovation.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service.
  • Ability to assist with producing, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data to contribute to decision making regarding financial aid policy and procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse community college student population.

Additional Information:
Salary: $90,000-$95,000 Annually
