RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for organization, delivery, oversight, and general effectiveness of clinical and lab experiences for students enrolled in the Respiratory Care program. The Clinical Instructor/Assistant Professor works in collaboration with program faculty toward the full integration of patient simulation into the curriculum and works with the Program Director and Clinical Coordinator to ensure that student clinical experiences are coordinated with their didactic and laboratory education.

Duties of the Clinical Instructor/Assistant Professor include:
  • Provide academic advisement for potential and current students.
  • Participate in recruitment activities.
  • Maintain records related to the Program.
  • Assist, in all aspects, the Program Chair in the operation of the Program.
  • Other responsibilities may be assigned in accordance with the MCCC/MTA agreement. Reports to the Dean, School of Health & Patient Simulation. Clinical oversight Duties may be assigned during day, evening or weekend hours.

Specific job responsibilities include but are not necessarily limited to the following:
  • Demonstrates and teaches patient care in clinical units to respiratory students and instructs students in principles and application of physical, biological, and psychological subjects related to respiratory care.
  • Responsible for directing students to any specialized units within the hospital when they are rotated.
  • Supervises respiratory students while performing patient care.
  • Maintains records of student's clinical experiences and performance as prescribed by the Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with program policies.
  • Serves as a liaison between the college, part-time clinical instructors and the clinical site.
  • Evaluates student progress weekly through verbal feedback and written weekly performance evaluations.
  • Demonstrates the ability to respond to and work with diverse and varied student populations and support the mission of the College.


Job Requirements:
  • Must have earned at least a Associate's Degree from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE). Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Must hold a valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential and hold current, unencumbered RRT license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Must be graduate of a CoARC accredited associates or baccalaureate degree respiratory care program.
  • Must have earned at least a baccalaureate degree from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE). Master's Degree Preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years' clinical experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
  • Must have a minimum of one (1) year of experience teaching in an COARC accredited respiratory care program either as an appointed faculty member or as a clinical preceptor.
  • Must pass National Background Check, CORI/SORI, 13 Panel Drug Test, and all medical requirements, including all required vaccinations and immunizations. Must complete Castlebranch onboarding process within two weeks of hire.
  • Successful candidate must complete CoARC Key personnel training program within one month of date of hire.
  • Must hold a current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare provider CPR certification, with ACLS provider certification preferred.

Additional Information:
Salary: $52,880 - $60,622 annually (180 Day Contract Position). Actual salary will be commensurate with education and experience per the MCCC Collective Bargaining Agreement
