Job Description:


General duties of all Nursing Faculty shall include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Meet the contractual job description as found in the MCCC Contract.
  • Promote the philosophy and objectives of the School of Health & Patient Simulation (SHPS) and the College
  • Maintain the rules and regulations of the SHPS and the College
  • Foster and maintain College relationships within the cooperating agencies and the community.
  • Maintain relationships and open lines of communication within the college.
  • Actively participate in the faculty organizations of the SHPS.
  • Become a team member/player and actively participate in the nursing areas outside of the clinical major as assigned by the Director of the Nursing Program.
  • Assist in the development of the nursing curriculum based on the recommendations of the Program's Curriculum Committee.
  • Actively participate in the Learning Resource Center and Patient Simulation Center, as assigned by the Director of Nursing.
  • Maintain open communication channels with the Clinical Coordinator and Director of Nursing concerning clinical needs.
  • Evaluate and record student progress.
  • Maintain records, as required by the School and/or College.
  • Participate in guidance and counseling for students, meeting contractual obligations.
  • Relieve or represent the Director of the Nursing Program as requested.
  • Maintain membership in professional nursing organizations and actively participate in same.
  • Maintain and update professional and clinical competencies.
  • Promote and engage in inter-professional education.
  • Assume other related duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing, or the Dean of the SHPS.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties of the tenure-track full time faculty shall include but are not limited to the following:

Classroom:
  • Work as a team member to deliver course content as outlined by the STCC Nursing Curriculum, competencies and student outcomes.
  • Evaluate, select and order textbooks, as appropriate.
  • Prepare and post all student handouts to the course BB site.
  • Prepare and evaluate all testing materials.
  • Grade all students assignments, as appropriate.

Clinical:
  • Instruct up to the approved maximum number of nursing students in each assigned clinical area.
  • Instruct two clinical groups each semester unless otherwise assigned by the Director of Nursing.
  • Select and assign patients for students, as appropriate.
  • Follow all policies and procedures of the Nursing Program and assigned agency(s).
  • Supervise, advise, and evaluate students' clinical practice.
  • Facilitate students' development of active learning and clinical reasoning.
  • Correct written assignments, as per curriculum.
  • Evaluate and record student progress.
  • Conduct pre- and post-conferences with students.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all school and student matters.
  • Complete a collaborative review with the Clinical Manager.
  • Communicate with the level coordinator/assigned mentor as needed.

Learning Resource Center:
  • Teach two nursing lab classes (learning resource center and patient simulation) each semester unless otherwise assigned by the Director of Nursing.
  • Participate in student advising by the Director of Nursing.
  • Promote and engage in inter-professional education.
  • Assume other related duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing.

Professional:
  • Maintain and update professional and clinical competencies.
  • Attend Nursing program orientation and ongoing education for clinical instructors.
  • Maintain competence in current computer technology
  • Meet all required school and clinical contractual health requirements.
  • Orient to the assigned clinical facility/unit as requested.
  • Work, collaboratively, with members of the inter-professional team.
  • Attend monthly level meetings and other meetings as requested.
  • Act as a professional nursing role model to students.
  • Foster and maintain rapport with hospital/agency staff.
  • Inform the Clinical Coordinator and/or Director of Nursing clinical needs.
  • Maintain records, as required by the School and/or College.
  • Participate in guidance and counseling for students, meeting contractual obligations.
  • Relieve or represent the Director of the Nursing Program as requested.
  • Maintain membership in professional nursing organizations and actively participate in same.
  • Maintain and update professional and clinical competencies.
  • Promote and engage in inter-professional education.
  • Participate in shared governance.
  • Development, implementation, and evaluation of policies
  • Participation in systematic evaluation of all components of the program
  • Assume other related duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing, or the Dean of the SHPS.



Requirements:


  • Master's degree or higher in Nursing or the equivalent in a nursing-related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years nursing experience and minimum of 2 years teaching experience (Community College level preferred).
  • Medical-Surgical/Acute Care required; subacute/long term adult/geriatrics considered.
  • Initial and continued employment dependent upon meeting COR/SORI and medical requirements.
  • Unencumbered license to practice nursing in the Commonwealth of MA.
  • Time flexibility, including weekend and evening hours if needed.

SUPERVISION: Directly responsible to the Director or Nursing, and Dean of the SHPS

SALARY: $55,000- $64,971 per annum plus fringe benefits, state-funded position. Starting salary will be in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. This salary is for the academic year (160 days).
