Then this Tenure-Track Architecture Faculty position at Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) is for you!
TMCC is the "jobs college" for Northern Nevada and the Division of Technical Sciences is seeking an architecture faculty member to join their outstanding team! The mission of TMCC's Division of Technical Science is to provide innovative industry-relevant training and upskilling for the diverse community we serve. We are seeking a candidate who value teamwork, industry-focus and student-centeredness to teach architecture courses currently scheduled at TMCC's William N. Pennington Center of Applied Technology at 475 Edison Way. At TMCC, we're not just about degrees; we're about pathways to great paying jobs! Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Architecture Degree from a regionally and NAAB accredited institution and 3 years of full-time practice experience in a professional architectural workplace or 6 years of experience in architecture/ landscape architecture.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey technical information.
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment for diverse student populations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters of Architecture degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- A Master's degree is required to teach 300 and 400 level courses.
- Prior experience teaching at the college level or in adult education programs.
Academic Responsibilities
Candidates must exhibit an appreciation of, a sensitivity to, and respect for a
diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological and ethnic backgrounds.
Teaching and workload assignments are scheduled throughout the calendar year, and may require evening and weekend obligations at one or more college locations.
- Teach 30 (15/15) credit or contact hours during the academic year, August through May, in various modalities as assigned, including in-person, hybrid, online, live-virtual (hy-flex), and at high-school sites (Jump-Start dual credit), per the needs of the program.
- Demonstrate awareness of diversity, equity, and inclusion issues. Maintain sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, as well as disabilities, of students, faculty, and staff.
- Assist with the NAAB accreditation process by providing input and actively participating in regular meetings.
- Support student learning outcomes assessment processes by teaching toward approved student learning outcomes and assessing student performance.
- Assist with curriculum and program review, revision, and assessment. Aid in the development of new course materials and innovative instructional techniques that improve student learning.
- Work closely with department peers and administrators to become an effective teacher and contributing member of the academic unit.
- Maintain and set up the equipment for assigned lab classes; promptly report any broken equipment to the administration.
- Mentor new part-time faculty.
- Participate in department activities such as advisory boards, industry partner visits, program review, inventory, and outreach events.
- Attend and actively participate in College events, department and division meetings, college or Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) committees, and community service activities.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current in field knowledge and pedagogies that expand breadth and depth of understanding in the discipline.
- Complete training outlined in TMCC's Faculty Standards of Online Instruction, when and as needed.
- Hold 5 office hours per week.
- Participate in student advising, recruitment, and retention efforts.
- Travel occasionally to community and workforce sites, conferences, events, and so on, per the needs of the program.
- Communicate and interact in a professional, timely and collegial manner with faculty, students, staff, and administration.
- Comply with departmental administrative responsibilities and published college and NSHE policies and procedures.
- Uphold the Mission, Vision, and Values of TMCC and perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with them.
- Adhere to the published codes of NSHE as detailed in the Board of Regents Handbook.
- Adhere to the Code of Ethical Standards of the State of Nevada (Nevada Revised Statutes 281A.400-281A.480).
- Other duties as assigned.
Salary and Benefits Information:
Salary: Initial salary placement will be dependent on education level and years of experience. This position is a 9-month role, totaling 172 working days per year. Opportunities to teach up to 6 additional credits per semester may be available, depending on course offerings. The salaries listed below are based on this schedule, paid over 12 months:
Associate's- $48,961-$58,754
Bachelor's- $57,823- $69,388
Master's- $60,634- $72,761
Master's + 30- $63,444-$76,133
Ph.D- $68,739- $82,487

Dependents of faculty have unlimited credits, but in order to be eligible children must be unmarried and under the age of 24 and must receive at least 50% of their financial support from the employee and/or employee's spouse or domestic partner.
