Salary Range: $3,565 - $4,746
Starting salary for this position is: $3,565 (Monthly)
Employees hired at the entry step of this range receive salary step advancement after six months and every 12 months thereafter. An employee hired at anything higher than the entry step of the range will have salary step advancement after 12 months and every 12 months thereafter until they reach the top of the salary range. Each salary step advancement will be approximately a 5% increase.

About the Proctored Testing Assistant (Program Assistant)
JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision of the Associate Dean of Instructional Support Services, the Proctored Testing Assistant supports placement evaluations and proctored testing at Spokane Community College (SCC). This position assists with scheduling and administering tests, checking students in for scheduled exams, entering and maintaining data in college databases, preparing reports, addressing technical issues, and supporting the Proctored Testing Coordinator with math placement.
This position composes written communications and documents and provides students, staff, faculty, and the public with information about SCC's policies and activities related to proctored testing.
The Proctored Testing Assistant position requires flexibility, including evening availability up to once per week or as required. This position works collaboratively with the Proctored Testing Team and across departments to ensure students receive consistent access to testing support.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide support for the Proctored Testing Center including answering phones, responding to emails, scheduling tests, and providing accurate information on SCC's testing services, activities, and policies to students, staff, faculty, and the public. *
- Check students in for testing appointments and administer proctored exams and alternative placement assessments; verify identification, monitor testing sessions to ensure integrity, and follow established procedures for reporting testing irregularities. *
- Perform administrative support functions for the Proctored Testing Center, including complex word and data processing (merging, sorting, and integrating text, graphics, and data), basic statistical calculations, and reporting. *
- Assist with the training and direction of work-study students, as needed. *
- Organize and maintain paper and electronic records and files. Assist with record keeping, data collection and maintenance. *
- Assist with evaluation and data entry of alternative placement measures for Math Placement. *
- Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators on Math Placement, New Student Orientation, DAS Testing and other initiatives to support the onboarding of new students and the continued success of returning students. *
- Assist in creating and managing facilities work orders and IT tickets related to Testing Center operations. *
- Maintain public-facing communications for the Proctored Testing Center, including the website, web calendar, and phone menus. Assist with updating communication in TracCloud scheduling database. *
- Assist with documenting Proctored Testing Center procedures and software/technical requirements to support consistent operations and staff training. *
- Support Proctored Testing Coordinator with troubleshooting technical issues with testing software and equipment; coordinating with testing vendors' technical support teams and SCC IT to resolve problems and support technology upgrades. *
- Monitor and assist with enforcement of Proctored Testing Center policies and procedures to maintain a secure, consistent testing environment. *
- Model professional decorum and mutual respect in all personal interactions. *
- Comply with district policies, procedures and directives, state and federal regulations, orders and statutes and collective bargaining agreements. *
- Support and advance the Spokane Colleges' strategic plan and perform other duties as assigned. *

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent, AND two years of full-time clerical/administrative experience; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One or more years of experience in a testing center or customer service role (e.g., front desk, student services, testing center).
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
- Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, and database software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, or equivalent) in a work setting.
- Experience troubleshooting basic computer or software issues independently, or escalating them appropriately.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evening hours as needed.
- Experience maintaining accuracy and attention to detail in a role with frequent interruptions or competing demands.
- Experience working independently by applying established procedures, policies, or guidelines without direct, ongoing supervision.
- Experience interpreting written rules, policies, or procedures and applying them to resolve routine problems.
- Demonstrated experience or training working with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new software and technology as well as obtain required proctoring certifications upon hire.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate degree or higher.
- One or more years of experience administering assessments, including maintaining test security and preventing academic dishonesty.
- One or more years of experience managing or troubleshooting computerized testing platforms
- One or more years of experience in a testing/assessment center, student services office, or related higher education environment.
- Experience training or providing day-to-day work direction to student employees or similar.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Work is performed in a semi-open office environment with frequent interruptions and background noise.
- Work is often sedentary.
- Work directly with students/clients.
- Frequent oral and auditory communication with others.
- Move up to 25 lbs. occasionally. Team lifts are encouraged and to be used at the employee's discretion.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Full-time schedule (12 months, 40 hours a week).
- This position is overtime eligible.
- 6-month probationary period.
- Position will work variable shifts.
- Criminal background check is required.
- This position is covered under a collective bargaining agreement. Membership is optional.
Person hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of U.S. Citizenship or lawful authorization to work in the United States. This is an absolute condition of employment. Medical, dental, life and long term disability insurance benefits are provided as currently administered under Public Employees Benefits Board; WA State Retirement Plan; vacation and sick leave begin to accrue at the rate of 11.33 hours vacation and 8 hours sick leave per month, upon employment. (For positions that are less than full time, leave accruals will be prorated to the percentage of the position.) This position is designated a bargaining unit position and union membership is not a condition of employment. Leave accruals and usage are governed by the WFSE collective bargaining agreement.
