Job Summary/Basic Function:
Brazosport College, a two-time Top 10 finalist for the Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence and Achieving the Dream Leader College, seeks a dynamic and innovative Chair/Full-Time Faculty member to provide administrative leadership and instruction across the Digital Media Communication and Information Systems Technology programs, spanning digital content creation and multimedia storytelling as well as computer hardware, programming, databases, networking, cybersecurity fundamentals, and IT support - for a nine-month, non-tenure track position. This is an on-campus position and does not offer remote work.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
- Reports to the Dean, Business, Technology, and Online Programs.
- Provides administrative leadership as Department Chair for the Digital Media Communication and Information Systems Technology programs, including course scheduling, program evaluation, curriculum maintenance, assessment/accreditation reporting, and faculty coordination.
- Prepares curriculum, including writing syllabi, developing new courses in digital content creation, multimedia storytelling, strategic communication, computer hardware and operating systems, programming, databases, networking, and IT helpdesk support, and selecting textbooks.
- Develops and teaches Digital Media Communication, Information Systems Technology (including programming, networking, database, and helpdesk/support coursework), and related classes using traditional and alternative delivery methods (face-to-face, online, hybrid).
- Assists in the advisement of students, helping them navigate program pathways, stackable credentials (e.g., Digital Communication Certificate, Digital Media Influencer Certificate, Information Systems Technology Specialist Certificate), and transfer applications.
- Serves on various assigned college committees.
- Summer teaching and administrative opportunities as enrollment dictates.
- Supports the college's student success initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Digital Media Communication, Information Technology, Information Systems Technology, Computer Science, Software Development & AI, AI and Data Analytics, Management Information Systems, or a closely related discipline from a regionally accredited college, plus 18 graduate credit hours in one of the fields above.
- Interest in alternative instructional delivery methods, including face-to-face, online, or hybrid.
- Demonstrated ability in working with a culturally diverse population.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Other qualities, experiences, and skills that enhance one's value to the institution.
- Proficiency in digital media production tools (digital imaging, video/audio production, web design) and in reading, writing, and explaining code, along with working knowledge of networking, databases, and IT help desk/support operations, as applicable to assigned teaching load.
- Exceptional employment or educational qualifications may be given special consideration as long as Southern Association (SACS) minimum educational credentials are met.
- Teaching experience in Digital Media Communication, Information Systems Technology (programming, networking, databases, or IT support), Web Design, Audio/Video Production, or related technical fields at the community college level.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Doctoral Degree in Digital Media Communication, Information Technology, Information Systems Technology, Computer Science, Software Development & AI, AI and Data Analytics, Management Information Systems, or a closely related discipline from a regionally accredited college, that includes 18 graduate credit hours in one of the fields above.
- Three (3) years of non-teaching, wage-earning experience in digital media, communications, or a computer/information technology field (e.g., programming, networking, database administration, or IT help desk support).
- Prior leadership or administrative experience as a department chair, program coordinator, or team lead in an academic setting.
- Teaching experience in Digital Media Communication, Information Systems Technology, or related technical fields at the community college level.
