General Statement
The MAIPSE Peer Support Staff (MAPS) are part-time grant-funded employees who assist students attending QCC under the Massachusetts Inclusive Post Secondary Education Initiative (MAIPSE). MAIPSE Peer Support staff work to assist MAIPSE students to develop and improve their self-advocacy and independence skills through student involvement at social and academic events offered on campus and regular meetings with MAIPSE students. MAIPSE Peer Support staff will work with the MAIPSE Coordinator to implement workshop series and related events that support the grant initiative.

MAIPSE Peer Support (MAPS) staff will report to the Coordinator of the MAIPSE Program.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Peer Support & Student Engagement
- Provide guidance to MAIPSE students on academic processes, campus services, and navigating college systems.
- Offer peer-to-peer support that promotes confidence, help-seeking behavior, and student success.
- Build relationships with students to foster a sense of belonging and community within the MAIPSE Program.
- Maintains contact and communication with students regularly.
- Participates in on-campus social and academic activities with MAIPSE students.
- Provides a respectful environment that promotes inclusivity to enhance the student's transition to college.
Administrative & Team Contributions
- Maintains a caseload of assigned students from the MAIPSE program.
- Participate in scheduled training and team meetings.
- Assist in tracking engagement and student interactions as needed.
- Provide feedback to improve peer mentoring services and programming.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
- Current enrollment at QCC with at least one semester of past enrollment and in good academic standing.
- Knowledge of Section 504 and the Americans with Disabilities Amendment Acts.
- Commitment of at least two full semesters within the role.
- Effective communication and active listening skills.
- Organization and time management skills.
- Reliability, professionalism, and initiative.
- Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality of the students.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive social relationships while exercising objectivity
