Job Description Summary:
To evaluate and test new or modified software programs and software development procedures used to verify that programs function according to user requirements and conform to college guidelines.
Job Description:
Description of Duties and Tasks
- Conducts functional testing on computer software programs to make sure the programs perform properly and are easy to use. Documents defects with steps to reproduce, screenshots and logs.
- Tests to assure the software being developed does not interfere with other software typically found on a computer.
- Writes, revises, and verifies quality standards and test procedures for program design and product evaluation to attain quality of software economically and efficiently.
- Reviews new or modified programs, including documentation, diagrams and flow charts, to determine if programs will perform according to user requests and conform to guidelines.
- Participates in sprint planning and daily stand-ups to stay aligned with development goals.
- Assists with developing policies and/or procedures as needed.
- Provides input on user documentation.
- Keeps current with the latest technology.
- Understands test automation best practices and develops automated test scripts.
- Defines the operating standards that the software must meet in order to be released
Knowledge
Must possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
- Information Technology practices and standards
- Major administrative or educational software applications, such as finance, human resources, or student systems
- Foundational understanding of how web applications work
- Test automation toolset usage

- Maintaining an established work schedule and providing on-call assistance including occasional nights and weekends
- Troubleshooting techniques used to resolve application-related problems
- Ability to prioritize workload effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, and work with a high level of independence
- Ensuring availability, dependability and reliability of assigned applications
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Explaining technical issues to both technical and non-technical team members in a clear and concise manner
- Maintaining confidentiality of work-related information and materials
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including tact and diplomacy
- Effectively using organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow through
Technology Skills
- Desktop applications such as spreadsheet, word processing, database and presentation software
- Hands on experience using SQL
- Issue and defect tracking applications, such as Jira
- Working knowledge of TestComplete from Smartbear
- API testing tools - SoapUI or Postman
- Experience using Chrome DevTools
Required Work Experience
- 2-4 years related work experience with manual and automated testing methodologies
- Eligible to work in the US without sponsorship
