Transition to College Coordinator (Part-Time)
POSITION: Part-Time Transition to College Coordinator (Coordinator of Alternative Studies): Center for Adult Education; Lawrence Campus (45 Franklin Street); MCCC/MTA Unit PT Professional Position; up to 16 hours per week. This position is grant-funded and is contingent upon the availability of funding. Continuation of the position is dependent on ongoing grant support and may be subject to termination if funding is reduced or discontinued.

SUMMARY: The Transition to College Coordinator (T2C) oversees the planning, implementation, and daily operations of the DESE-funded T2C program, supporting ESOL and HSE students as they prepare for and enroll in college. This role provides leadership, direction, and guidance to T2C staff and adjunct instructors, ensures alignment with strategic objectives, and manages program compliance, budgets, and reporting requirements. The Coordinator also fosters partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, contributes to program development, and actively participates in community outreach to promote adult education and college transition initiatives

SCHEDULE: Monday through Thursday, 4:00pm - 8:00pm

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Provide operational oversight for the T2C program, ensuring alignment with college, state, and grant objectives, including program planning, policy implementation, and quality standards.
  • Ensure program operations-including enrollment, scheduling, student retention, and progress monitoring-run smoothly and meet program goals.
  • Administer the T2C grant, including overseeing budget, monitoring program implementation, and ensuring compliance with funder requirements.
  • Serve as the point person for internal coordination and external partnerships related to the T2C program.
  • Collaborate with the T2C advisor and instructional staff to align student support, workshops, and course offerings with program objectives.
  • Support the integration of college and career readiness skills into course offerings and advising.
  • Facilitate workshops and information sessions on academic, career, and transition topics for students, including study skills, goal setting, career exploration, resume writing, and college system navigation.
  • Support T2C students with navigation of college systems, including registration, financial aid, and technology.
  • Track and document T2C student progress. Maintain accurate student records and ensure compliance with DESE grant requirements.
  • Enter and manage T2C student data in LACES (e.g., student profiles, enrollments, case notes). Ensure compliance with DESE data standards.
  • Analyze program and student data to inform improvements, ensure accountability, and support grant reporting.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to provide wraparound services, address barriers to student success, and ensure a smooth transition to college.
  • Represent the program in college-wide and community and professional meetings and lead outreach events to recruit T2C students.
  • Conduct outreach to ABE programs, immigrant-serving organizations, and community partners to recruit eligible adult learners.
  • Promote the T2C program through presentations, digital outreach, printed materials, and event participation.
  • Research best practices, trends, and innovations in adult education and college transitions.
  • Attend relevant professional development opportunities.
  • Attend DESE-sponsored meetings and collaborate with peer programs and state partners to align with best practices
  • Prepare and submit reports as required by funder and program leadership.

Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

NOTE: Unless otherwise noted, all required qualifications must be met by date of hire.
  • Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Business, or closely related field; with five (5) years experience and/or training that includes alternative learning program coordination, teaching, counseling, student testing, grant development/coordination, and program management; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide professional academic counseling using counseling theory and student development principles
  • Experience supporting adult learners, first-generation students, and immigrant populations
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and case management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and student information and data systems

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience in adult education, HSE or ESOL program.
  • Experience working with DESE-funded programs and data systems such as LACES
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English)

Additional Information:
SALARY: $36.55/hour, Non-benefited position. This position is eligible for all purpose paid leave hours in accordance with the MCCC CBA.
