The Foothill-De Anza Community College District is currently accepting applications for the faculty position of Faculty Director, De Anza College.
The Foothill - De Anza Community College District does not have a remote work policy. All employees are expected to be available to work in person and on-site per the requirement of the department.

POSITION PURPOSE:
Under the direction of the Associate Dean of Student Affairs and the Dean of Student Development and EOPS, the position oversees the Office of College Life program by designing and implementing social, cultural, recreational, and governance initiatives that increase campus engagement and broaden exposure to diverse cultures, perspectives, issues, and lifestyles. Serve as the primary advisor to De Anza Student Government (DASG), collaborating with faculty and staff advisors, student clubs, and relevant offices and programs. Responsibilities include leadership development training, activity and event programming, coordination of student organizations, and facilitation of new student leadership orientation. This position provides leadership and guidance to professional staff and student assistants, and establishes the vision and strategic plans for all operational needs and functions of the office.
NATURE and SCOPE:
This position plays a leadership role in developing a comprehensive activities program and supervising the Student Government of De Anza College. The Faculty Director coordinates and helps implement student leadership training and governance development programs, assist with developing and monitoring departmental and student government budgets. The Faculty Director will collaborate with Shared Governance bodies, Student Services and Academic administrators, counselors, and faculty on student leadership development opportunities.
The Faculty Director is also responsible for implementing an extensive leadership program and training for the Student Government and all student leadership positions under the office- to prepare and support them in their shared governance roles at the college.
These activities will ensure that students possess the skills to manage their duties and responsibilities as student government officers and leaders. Leadership training topics will include civic education, interpersonal communication and teamwork, equity, inclusion, finance management, project management, ethics, organizational development, nuts and bolts of regular tasks, and governmental affairs.
The Faculty Director will oversee the office operations and provide technical and functional direction to the Student Activities Coordinators, Office Coordinators, and Flea Market Coordinator. Standard duties expected of all faculty include development and evaluation of curricula, maintaining scheduled office hours, attending department and division meetings, pursuing professional growth activities, service on district and/or college committees, and performing other duties consistent with the role of an instructor. Instructors also have the opportunity to participate in campus extra-curricula activities that enhance professional growth. Although primarily non instructional, the Director may teach a leadership course for student leaders using equity based, student centered pedagogy. The Faculty Director is expected to design, implement, and evaluate trainings and workshops using evidence based best practices and appropriate assessment tools.
Standard duties expected of all faculty include maintaining scheduled office hours; attending and participating in department, division, college-wide, and district-wide planning and governance activities; serving on college and/or district committees; pursuing ongoing professional development; and performing other duties consistent with the role of an instructor. Faculty will engage in community involvement and outreach as representatives of their discipline and department, contributing to partnerships and activities that strengthen the college's connection to its surrounding communities. In addition, faculty also have opportunities to participate in campus co-curricular and extra-curricular activities that support student engagement and success.
KEY DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and direct the campus activities and highly impactful programs including established events as well as creating new signature programs and events for the office.
- Assist with strategic direction of the office and
- Develop and conduct studies and analyses to identify needs for new programs and services and evaluate the effectiveness of current programs. Propose and implement new programs and program changes.
- Develop and monitor department budgets; manage student group budgets; ensure expenditures fall within State Education Code requirements; authorize expenditures.
- Advise, train and supervise a diverse group of student leaders; authorize and supervise student travel.
- Authorize contracts with performers, travel groups and other vendors.
- Advise and supervise the development, review and enforcement of Student Government documents, including the constitution, election code and policies and procedures.
- Develop, coordinate and facilitate personal and leadership development workshops and retreats for student leaders and members of recognized student organizations.
- Develop, review and update student organization advisor and student handbooks.
- Advise and guide faculty and staff advisors of recognized student organizations.
- Refer students to community organizations and social service agencies for assistance as appropriate.
- Prepare statistical records and reports related to assigned student services areas; gather and analyze program data; make recommendations and implement approved changes.
- Attend meetings, workshops and conferences; represent the campus and promote college enrollment.
- Select, train and supervise student staff and student workers.
- Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty and staff.
- Master's degree OR the equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a supervisory capacity of students and their related activities, preferably at a college or university level.
- Two (2) years student leadership development experience working in an educational setting.
- Previous operations management and budgetary experience.
- Previous experience with civic engagement education.

HIRING RANGE: $91,916 - $147,957 annually plus benefits; actual placement is based on applicant's verified education and experience.
