Position Description

Under the direction of the assigned administrator, this position will perform a variety of specialized duties to facilitate the establishment and operational functions of campus life, clubs, outreach and engagement activities, and promote the inclusion of the student voice; plans, organizes, and facilitates campus efforts outside of the classroom to engage with students to connect them to campus life and find needed resources to persist from first year through completion of their educational goals, with a student-centered approach and an equity mindset; promote and support student equity, cultural competency, and understanding and awareness within the student community.

This is a 40 hour/week, 12 month position.

Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of a community college environment.
  • Plan, organize, and implement on and off campus activities and programs to provide information and assistance to prospective and current students regarding Copper Mountain College resources, and basic needs support.
  • Assist with coordinating the use of the Student Activity Center.
  • Implement activities that promote student equity, and cultural competency, understanding, and awareness.
  • Promote positive campus culture and safe space programs for students on campus.
  • Provide referrals for support services to students in efforts to aid in retention and course completion. Maintain a directory of services for on campus and off campus resources to assist and refer prospective and current students to aid in recruitment, retention, completion, and transfer in various formats for appropriate distribution to campus community as a whole.
  • Outreach to prospective students by leading outreach events such tours and information sessions that increase enrollment.
  • Identify and establish professional contacts with various departments and community resources to schedule and organize appointments for visits, events, meetings, and presentations.
  • Plan and implement Welcome Week activities for incoming CMC students.
  • Plan and participate in a variety of programs, committees, special events, and fundraising activities.
  • Maintain a variety of records, logs and student files, including those of a confidential nature; assist in preparation of reports and statistical data related to program activities and effectiveness.
  • Monitor and prepare related budgets for supervisory approval; including researching and preparing information needed for budget development; monitoring expenditures; cross-referencing other documents to maintain and reconcile budget records and files.
  • Prepare and deliver oral presentations regarding the Student Life program.
  • Design marketing materials and campaigns including social media management as well as oversee distribution of materials for events and programs.
  • Communicate directly with students through various digital platforms to promote programs, resources, clubs, and student organizations on campus.
  • Facilitate the establishment and operational functions of campus clubs. Work closely with ASCMC to establish club procedures and positive relationships within campus clubs.
  • Coordinate with student organizations and faculty advisors to support approved student life activities; including mentoring students in protocol and procedures; facilitating the official registration of a student organization; maintaining current information on student organization leaders, members, purpose, and activities.
  • Collaborate on campus connection newsletters for the campus community.
  • Attend staff meetings, conferences, and seminars to maintain current knowledge regarding program requirements, regulations, equity initiatives, and District policies and plans.

    Qualifications

  • AA degree or equivalent AND three years of increasingly responsible experience involving public contact and computer operation.
  • One (1) year of event planning experience.
  • Experience with a community college preferred.

    Supplemental Information

  • While performing the duties outlined in this classification, employees in this classification are regularly required to stand or sit for long periods of time, travel short distances on a regular basis; operate a computer and other office machines, reach, bend, reach, stoop, kneel or crouch to file; understand and follow oral and written directions; and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • All employees assigned to this classification must regularly lift, carry and/or move objects weighing up to 15 pounds.
