The Early College Pathways Counselor will provide comprehensive support and guidance to Early College and dual enrollment students at STCC. This role involves implementing programs, training, and workshops to help students start each semester successfully. The Pathways Coach will provide ongoing support, guiding students through their academic and career pathways to help them stay on track and achieve their goals. The Pathways Coach will focus on fostering academic success, improving grades, and enhancing the overall college experience. The Pathways Coach will assist students in Early College Career Pathways, addressing challenges related to persistence, retention, and completion. The Pathways Coach will work directly with students, ensuring clear communication regarding referrals, opportunities, and resources to promote student success.

RESPONSIBILITIES (include, but are not limited to):
  • Assist in enrollment and retention of Early College Pathways students.
  • Conduct workshops and trainings with high school staff, parents and students regarding career pathways program and STCC campus resources.
  • Assist with conducting college and career readiness workshops and activities collaborating with college admissions, career services and enrollment services as appropriate.
  • Serve STCC's liaison for all Chapter 74 schools; Lead the coordination of all secondary-postsecondary linkage activities ensuring that students and college enrollment services are informed of the required sequence of courses and college credit is awarded when applicable.
  • Coordinate the development and updates to Perkins Local Needs Assessment.
  • Coordinate meetings with area high schools and partner colleges.
  • Plan and conduct orientation and onboarding sessions for Early College and dual enrollment students to provide a smooth transition for students seeking credentials or further education.
  • Review student progress and provide guidance and referrals to students and high school partners.
  • Support the Early College and dual enrollment programs through program promotion, recruitment, application processing, and student registration.
  • Assist with the development, scheduling, and implementation of retention materials, workshops, and training.
  • Prepare reports and gather pertinent program data as required.
  • Assist in planning special events and activities for students.
  • Communicate with enrollment services and advising offices when students are eligible for college credit related to Chapter-74 linkage activities.
  • Utilize available technology and student interactions to maintain on-going contact with students to ensure their persistence and retention towards degree completion.
  • Maintain accurate records and notes.
  • Comply with FERPA privacy guidelines and manage student FERPA records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Job Requirements:
  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience working with college and/or high school students.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
  • Ability to build rapport and meaningful relationships with students, parents and high school staff.
  • Proficiency in virtual meeting platforms, word processing, spreadsheets and presentation programs. Experience using--and comfort with--technology (student information systems, basic Microsoft Office tools, etc.), as well as the ability and willingness to learn new computer-based programs.
  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of individuals and be perceptive and understanding of student concerns.
  • Creative problem solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to FERPA regulations.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Additional Information:
Salary: $64,160 - $77,300 annually according to MCCC Collective Bargaining Agreement, Grade 4 https://www.mass.edu/forfacstaff/classificationspecs/home.asp
