The Sr. Academic Program Administrator is administratively responsible under the Assistant Director, Academic Programs for all activities related to the Biomedical Engineering (BME) Undergraduate and Masters programs. This position functions as the primary liaison between faculty, prospective and current students as well as the College and University administration to provide effective and efficient administrative support for the smooth functioning of the assigned programs. They are the main resource regarding all information related to Undergrad and Masters programs policies and requirements. They will provide assistance as required to help with BME's doctoral, masters and undergraduate programs Boston University is an internationally recognized institution of higher education and one of the largest independent universities in the United States. Founded in 1869, it is considered one of the nations premier research institutions and teaching hospitals. The BU BME Department is among the largest of its kind in the country and was one of the first to offer a bachelors degree in the field. Today, we offer a full suite of undergraduate and graduate degrees and are consistently ranked among the top BME departments in the nation. We are educating a diverse student population to address a diverse set of biomedical engineering challenges. Essential functions include: - Program management (registration, academic advising, internal reporting and statistics, track graduation requirements, collect deliverables for degree milestones, run departmental Orientation, oversee advisor assignments and advisee loads, process petitions, record management, form and handbook updates, track LEAP to LEAPT transition, coordinate with other ENG and University offices and administrators on student matters, communicate curricular changes and enforce policies) planning BMES activities, and supporting all graduate programs for a sizeable population of 156 students. - Admissions and recruitment activities (manage application reviews and admissions meetings, outreach, respond to prospective students, organize Open Houses and oversee Ambassadors program). Review of over 1,200 applications annually, extensive data gathering, committee collaboration over six months, and ongoing communication with prospective students. - Assign faculty advisors, oversee the course requisition approval and review process for new and cross-listed courses, schedule all department courses, maintain BME course waitlists, process student petitions, and work with the Colleges Undergraduate Program Office, GPO, other ENG departments and assorted University offices. - Manage the undergraduate program activities during the academic year including: senior capstone course and associated conference. Designing project coordination and managing collaborations with outside companies and internal labs for a large cohort of 673 students - MEng practicum management (BE 695 course logistics, facilitiate BMC compliance training and medical observership, BMC orientation for observers, communicate requirements and deadlines, Bridge BUilders) -Manage ABET Accreditation per schedule Requirements:
Required Skills
- BA/BS Degree is required. MA/MS preferred and three to five years of relevant experience.
- Excellent communication skills, including ability to write well and to effectively and respectfully handle various constituencies.
- Organization, attention to detail, multitasking and excellent social skills are required.
- Should be familiar with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and general office administration.
