GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

This is a working supervisor position. Will oversees the general care and maintenance of the college campus. In addition, responsible for maintaining, supervising, and leading our custodial team to carry out standard assignments and/or projects and events as needed.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Working supervisor responsible for leading our Custodial and snow removal operations on campus, as well as assist with supervising grounds work.
  • Responsible for supervising all maintainer personnel
  • Responsible for all aspects of custodial training, building cleanliness inspections and all custodial supply ordering and inventory management
  • Responsible for managing all custodial equipment repairs and replacement.
  • Oversees use and maintenance of snow removal, grounds equipment, and vehicle maintenance (including golf cart assignments).
  • Assisting and supervise snow removal operation performed by our in house staff / outsourced contractor on and off campus, college event logistics such as setup and breakdowns.


Job Requirements:
  • Must have at least three (3) years of full-time, or equivalent part-time experience in building maintenance, which may include maintaining and/or repairing plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilating and/or air conditioning systems, or building custodial services
  • Must have at least one (1) year experience lead or supervisory experience
  • Seven (7) years of custodial experience preferred
  • Custodial experience in an educational environment preferred
  • Experience in all types of floor care procedures and able to operate and train individuals on best practices.
  • Experience supervising a campus wide floor care program, meeting deadlines and quality requirements preferred.
  • Good working knowledge of custodial supply ordering procedures and inventory management.
  • Detail orientated and able to perform in-depth building cleanliness inspections.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide a high level of cleanliness.
  • Ability to be a Team Leader, decision maker, and resolve conflicts as they arise.
  • Ability to prioritize, think quickly, and be results orientated
  • Knowledge of working with green products.
  • Experience working with outside contractors and supervising work if needed.
  • Ability to be a part of the emergency response team on campus.
  • Ability to coordinate and supervise large event set ups, specifically college graduation logistics and set up.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of MS office, excel, and the ability to learn new software programs as needed.
  • Knowledge of snow removal best practice, ability to learn new processes, and ability to supervise snow removal activities.
  • Coordinate work orders that apply to maintainer staff.
  • Responsible for monitoring work schedules, vacation requests, and OT Seniority logs.
  • Facilitate staff, and supervisor meetings to maintain a constant flow of information with all staff
  • Able to work in a diverse college setting.

INFORMATION AWARENESS SECURITY TRAINING:

Candidates for employment should be aware that all STCC employees are required to complete Information Awareness Security Training within thirty days of their orientation date and annually thereafter.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Will stand and walk for prolonged periods of time, life and carry heavy objects; work outdoors in all types of weather, work varied shifts, weekends, holidays or nights; are exposed to the hazard of wet, slippery floors; work under exposure to the hazards to chemicals, toxic and noxious fumes, dust, excessive heat, high noise levels, high volume traffic conditions and high and high voltage wires; work from ladders and scaffolds; and may be required to climb trees and operate motor vehicles/equipment. Frequently communicates with employees, faculty and contractors. Must be able to exchange accurate information. Must be able to position self and move in various area/locations on campus. Must be able to detect changes from long distances. Must lift medium to heavy objects.

Additional Information:
SALARY: $2,548.29 Bi-Weekly, Grade 19/Step 1

WORK SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week. (Monday-Friday) Flexible shift scheduling may be required.*

*Candidate must be able to work evenings and varied shifts, holidays, nights including weekends, if needed to meet departmental needs.
