About Us

Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) is the "jobs college" for Northern Nevada currently serving over 11,000 students. The college is a Hispanic Serving Institution with 35% of students identifying as Hispanic. Many students are first in their families to go to college and are receiving financial aid. The college prides itself on providing numerous scholarship opportunities to remove barriers to access for the diverse community we serve. The college has five academic divisions, including the Division of Applied Technology, in which the construction management department and this position are housed.

The department provides workforce training through an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Degree (60 credits) in Construction Management which is designed for immediate employment or seamless transfer into a bachelor's degree program.

Truckee Meadows Community College is on the hunt for a Temporary Full-Time Construction Management Instructor who's ready to roll up their sleeves and make a difference! You'll be teaching in our hands-on, career-focused AAS Degree program at the William N. Pennington Applied Technology Center (475 Edison Way), and possibly online too.

Minimum Qualifications

1. A bachelor's degree or appropriate experience in lieu of a post-secondary education, is required for instruction.

Academic Responsibilities

Teaching and workload assignments are scheduled throughout the calendar year, and may require evening and weekend obligations at one or more college locations.

1. Teach 30 (15/15) credit or contact hours during the academic year, August through May, in various modalities as assigned, including in-person, hybrid, online, live-virtual (hy-flex), and at high-school sites (Jump-Start dual credit), per the needs of the program.

2. Support student learning outcomes assessment processes by teaching toward approved student learning outcomes and assessing student performance.

3. Teach to the student learning outcomes for all courses and programs; assess outcomes and design methods for closing performance gaps.

4. Assist with curriculum and program review, revision, and assessment. Aid in the development of new course materials and innovative instructional techniques that improve student learning.

5. Work closely with department peers and administrators to become an effective teacher and contributing member of the academic unit.

6. Maintain and set up the equipment for assigned lab classes; promptly report any broken equipment to the administration.

7. Mentor new part-time faculty.

8. Participate in department activities such as advisory boards, industry partner visits, program review, inventory, and outreach events.

9. Attend and actively participate in College events, department and division meetings, college or Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) committees, and community service activities.

10. Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current in field knowledge and pedagogies that expand breadth and depth of understanding in the discipline.

11. Complete training outlined in TMCC's Faculty Standards of Online Instruction, when and as needed.

12. Hold 5 office-hours per week.

13. Participate in student advising, recruitment, and retention efforts.

14. Travel occasionally to community and workforce sites, conferences, events, and so on, per the needs of the program.

15. Communicate and interact in a professional and collegial manner with faculty, students, staff, and administration, in the best interests of the college and the people it serves.

16. Comply with departmental administrative responsibilities and published college and NSHE policies and procedures.

17. Uphold the Mission, Vision, and Values of TMCC and perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with them.

18. Adhere to the published codes of NSHE as detailed in the Board of Regents Handbook.

19. Adhere to the Code of Ethical Standards of the State of Nevada (Nevada Revised Statutes 281A.400-281A.480).

20. Other duties as assigned by the dean.

Salary and Benefits Information:

Salary: Initial salary placement will be dependent on education level and years of experience. This position is a 9-month role, totaling 172 working days per year. Opportunities to teach up to 6 additional credits per semester may be available, depending on course offerings. The salaries listed below are based on this schedule, paid over 12 months:

Less than Bachelor's: $48,961 - $58,754

Bachelor's: $57,823 - $69,388

Master's: $60,634 - $72,761

Master's + 30: $63,444 - $76,133

Ph.D: $68,739 - $82,487
