Job Description
Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC), a National Junior College Athletics Association (NJCAA), and Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) member, seeks candidates for the position of Head Coach, Women's Volleyball for the Athletic Department. Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the head coach will be responsible for the organization and management of the Women's Volleyball program. This individual must have strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills in order to teach/coach, recruit and interact with others both inside and outside the Community College.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following functions, which are not listed in any particular order of importance or significance:
1. Recruiting: identifies prospective student-athletes qualified for admission to Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC); effectively communicates with prospective student-athletes, parents and coaches; effectively communicates and coordinates recruitment efforts with TMCC's Office of Admissions.
2. Coaching/Student-Athlete Experience: demonstrates knowledge of, and ability to develop sport skills, strategies and philosophy; promotes student-athlete well-being and provides appropriate mentoring to student-athletes and assistant coach.
3. Program Administration: operates within College, SWAC and NJCAA guidelines; schedules practices; maintains inventory of equipment, uniforms, and supplies; carries out team travel according to established policies and procedures; effectively communicates within the Department and with the TMCC community on matters pertaining to program.
4. Supervision: identifies, hires, trains and evaluates assistant coach, including volunteers; ensures that assistant coach/volunteer adhere to all TMCC, SWAC and NJCAA guidelines.
5. Game Day: assists with the set-up operations associated with the game day.
6. Budget Administration: Operates within budgetary guidelines established by TMCC and Athletics Director. Facilitates fundraising efforts to augment allocated resources.
7. Marketing, Fundraising, and Community Engagement: assists the Director of Athletics with all efforts in this area. Coordinates all activities and donor relations through the Athletics Director's office.
Time Commitment:
1. Candidates should expect to spend approximately 19 hours per week in practices and game activities from August 1 through the end of the season/NJCAA tournament.
2. Candidates should expect to spend eight hours per week with their team in the spring term.
3. Candidates will be expected to travel to away competitions with their respective teams with the team leaving on Wednesday and returning on either Saturday or Sunday.
4. Candidates will be required to be at all home matches, which will be at least six dates, occurring on Thursday and Saturday. If the budget allows, candidates will be encouraged to schedule non-conference opponents within 100 miles of the TMCC campus.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in a related field (Sports Management, Kinesiology/Physiology and /or Education) or equivalent preferred.
2. Two to three years experience in coaching at the college level or significant experience coaching at the high school or club level (U14 or older) or equivalent required and/or collegiate playing experience.
3. Ability to effectively teach and coach students in both a team and individual settings.
4. Ability to recruit outstanding student-athletes to a strong academic environment.
5. A commitment to providing a positive role model and leadership to the team as well as excellent communication skills are required.
6. Ability to effectively interact with a wide variety of people in a manner that positively portrays TMCC and its programs, personnel, and philosophies.
7. Successful clearance of a criminal history record check.
Salary:
This part time position ranges from $15-25.

Conditions of Employment
This is an on-going pool of qualified individuals interested in part-time, temporary non-tenure track instructional opportunities at Truckee Meadows Community College. These opportunities are part-time only and will not be continued beyond the ending date. These opportunities may be terminated at will, at any time, for any reason, without notice; the appointee has no appeal rights.
