Springfield Technical Community College seeks applicants for the posting of adjunct for the Computer Information Technologies Department. This position is under the supervision of the Dean of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
Qualified applicants could possibly teach network concepts like routing, switching, TCP/IP addressing and network administration, Windows and Linux operating systems, intrusion detection and firewalls, information systems fundamentals, and network servers, both Windows and Linux, configuration. Python, C#, or SQL programming and security topics such as risk assessment, controls, penetration testing, vulnerability scanning, and forensics are also possible teaching topics.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Adjunct Instructor positions are part-time, semester-to-semester, non-benefited MCCC/MTA/DCE unit positions.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
- Adjuncts will teach introductory and/or advanced Computer Information Technologies courses to students from a diverse cultural and educational background. The person filling this position believes that all students can learn, and that student engagement in the classroom enhances knowledge of academic content and leads to higher student success and demonstrates excellent teaching skills including varied pedagogical styles (i.e. collaborative, inquiry-based, computer assisted, and/or multimedia methods of delivery including experience integrating course management software as a supplement to classroom learning).
- Candidates will compile and report grade-related information in accordance with MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement based on College deadlines.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated effectiveness with on-line teaching.
- 2-3 years of college teaching experience.
- Experience creating and implementing student learning outcomes, evaluating student performance and progress through a variety of assessment approaches; the use of classroom technology, online learning, and student-centered learning techniques are preferred.
- Must possess strong written communication skills and time management skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree preferred with 8-10 years of IT experience in a department that serviced the operations of an organization.
- Comptia Network+ certification preferred.
- Successful community college teaching experience.
- Commitment to fostering inclusiveness, equity and diversity within the academic setting.
- Teaching experience with Early College students or at the High School level.
- Commitment to the mission of the community college.
