The Position:
Applications are currently being accepted for Outreach Coordinator in the Outreach and Community Relations department located at San Diego City College. Hours are 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday. Some evening and weekend hours will be required. Selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the department's needs.

Under the general supervision of the Dean of Outreach and Enrollment Services, this position oversees the day-to-day functions of Outreach and Community Relations, the Welcome Center, including the Assessment office, the San Diego Promise Program, and the Peer Mentor program. The position coordinates as array of community outreach activities and functions related to recruiting and enrolling new and continuing students into the college; promotes the college's educational programs, Career Technical Education programs and careers, and related services to new and prospective students. The Outreach Coordinator collaborates and partners with feeder high schools and community agencies; meets with prospective students and helps determine eligibility for college programs; plans organizes, and coordinates off campus community outreach.

Representative Duties
The following duties are typical for this position:

  • Coordinates and provides leadership to the college's outreach functions which may include, but not be limited to, recruitment, the development of relationships with K-12 districts, and the development of relationships with community entities from which potential students are recruited.
  • Assist in the development of necessary programs and services designed to assure students' access, ease of entry, and successful transition into college.
  • Assist with enrollment management.
  • Participate in community based, faith based, and business outreach activities.
  • Coordinate in-reach activities.
  • Assist in the development and use of a tracking and evaluation system to evaluate the progress of students from their recruitment through enrollment.
  • Participate in the development and the delivery of student orientation programs for new and/or returning students.
  • Serve as the central clearinghouse for other college departments that participate in the college's recruiting and outreach efforts.
  • Assist in the development of materials for outreach and recruitment.
  • Schedule and participate in presentations to feeder schools and community entities, and conduct tours and presentations on campus as well as train other to do so.
  • Prepare and monitor the department's annual budget, and prepare the department's annual program plan.
  • Represent the college at off-campus functions and events.
  • Participate in meetings of college personnel and representatives from feeder school districts.
  • Provide clearly written reports, program plans, and event plans, when requested or appropriate.
  • Develop, implement, and assess Service Area Outcomes, Program Review and other related outcomes for outreach services.
  • Supervises and train contract staff and student workers.

Training and Experience:
Any combination of training and experience equivalent to: Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field and at least one year of related experience in either developing and administering outreach programs with K-12 districts or working with student support programs at the high school level or in higher education. Three years of increasingly responsible experience in outreach or related field preferred.

Pay Information:
Range 10 ($5,230.73- $8,732.91) per month based on the current Supervisory and Professional Employees Association - Salary Schedule A

Initial salary placement is commensurate with related experience and promotional rules. The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid: medical, dental, and vision plans; sick and vacation leave; and opportunities for professional development. Initial Salary Placement, Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the SPAA - Supervisory & Professional Administrators Association Handbook. This position isNon-Exempt and may accrue overtime. A temporary probationary period will be applied to the employee entering this assignment.
