Applications are currently being accepted for Administrative Secretary in the Office of the Vice President of Instruction, located at San Diego Miramar College. Under the general direction of the Vice President of Instruction, the Administrative Secretary performs a wide variety of difficult and complex secretarial, administrative, and clerical duties, which may involve confidential matters, requiring a substantial amount of tact, judgement, and initiative.
Hours are Monday though Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm with some evenings. Selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the department's needs.

Please note that an employee may be transferred to any site at the option of the Chancellor.

Training and Experience: Bachelors Degree desired. The successful candidate will demonstrate the following: Experience that demonstrates the ability to perform complex administrative support functions independently and with a minimum of supervision. Experience that demonstrates an advanced working knowledge of office and business processes, and of related computer software and electronic communications. Demonstrated experience collecting and compiling data with a high level of detail for inclusion into special and periodic reports, and follow-up with stakeholders. Demonstrated experience in the administrative development of instructional class schedules, including overseeing classroom availability and inventory, and creating paperwork for teacher work assignments. Demonstrated experiences providing clerical support for instructional committee meetings, including preparing and assembling meeting agenda materials, taking effective notes and minutes, and distributing announcements to stakeholders. Demonstrated strong communication skills and proven interpersonal skills with experience in providing complex administrative support in a high-profile, busy environment with tact and diplomacy. Experience that demonstrates the ability to make high-level contacts of a sensitive nature, internally and externally, requiring discretion and diplomacy. Successful experience working in an environment that requires managing and meeting multiple deadlines. Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion and a proven ability to handle confidential information. Experience that demonstrates the ability to exercise good judgment, accuracy and proficiency in all aspects of maintaining an executive calendar, including prioritizing issues according to urgency and to allocating time for scheduled events, travel and meetings. Experience that demonstrates the ability to respond on behalf of the Vice President to inquiries from faculty, staff, students and the public in regard to campus operations, policies and procedures. Demonstrated experience in coordinating projects, training, and guidance to office clerical personnel to ensure that the daily operations of the Office of the Vice President run smoothly.

Pay Information:
Range 22 ($3,552.32 $5,670.31) per month based on the current AFT Classified Unit Office Technical Salary Schedule

Initial salary placement is commensurate with related experience and promotional rules. The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid: medical, dental, and vision plans; sick and vacation leave; and opportunities for professional development. Initial Salary Placement, Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the AFT-Guild, Local 1931 Classified Staff Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is FLSA Non-Exempt and may accrue overtime. A temporary probationary period will be applied to the employee entering this assignment.
