Job Description:


Under the supervision of the Dean of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, this faculty member is responsible for planning, delivering, and supervision of instruction to a diverse population of students, supporting student success and assessment of student progress in alignment with the Student Success Plan initiatives at the College. The successful candidate will have documented expertise in their area of teaching responsibility and will work together with faculty and staff to create an atmosphere of trust and respect in which all can succeed.

REPORTS TO: Dean of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math

RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
  • Teach one or more courses in Chemistry (both lab and lecture). Day, evening or Saturday sections may be available. Actively participates with classroom discussions; sharing experiences and perspectives.
  • Provides relevant and timely feedback on student assignments, including participation.
  • Compiles and reports grade-related information. Teaching contracts will be in accordance with MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement.



Requirements:


  • A minimum of an MS degree in Chemistry or a related discipline (PhD preferred).
  • College-level teaching experience in Chemistry, preferably at the community college level, preferred.
  • Desire and ability to work with a diverse student body in a cooperative environment.
  • Experience creating and implementing student learning outcomes, evaluating student performance and progress through a variety of assessment approaches; the use of classroom technology, online learning, and student-centered learning techniques are preferred.
  • The successful candidate will have demonstrated proficiency at teaching general Chemistry and/or Organic Chemistry while also being able to teach a non-majors introductory chemistry course or other courses appropriate to their background.
  • Commitment to college service activities is required.
  • Desire and ability to work with a diverse student body in a cooperative environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Essential functions are performed indoor, classroom and shop area and classroom activities may occur outside. Physical demands for this program may include walking, lifting, standing, bending, and close vision.
