Dean of Apprenticeships & Work-based Learning
POSITION: Full-Time Dean of Apprenticeships & Work-based Learning (Dean): Academic Affairs; Haverhill Campus; 37.5 hours per week; Non-Unit Professional Position.

This position is grant-funded and is contingent upon the availability of funding. Continuation of the position is dependent on ongoing grant support and may be subject to termination if funding is reduced or discontinued.

SUMMARY: The Dean of Apprenticeships & Work-based Learning serves as a key leader within Academic Affairs, reporting directly to the Chief Academic Officer/Vice President of Academic Affairs. The Dean provides leadership in developing, implementing, and expanding apprenticeship programs and work-based learning initiatives that align with industry workforce needs, regulatory requirements, and the mission of the college. This role is responsible for strategic planning, partnership development, compliance oversight, and program evaluation to ensure high-quality workforce training opportunities for students and employers. The Dean works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to enhance apprenticeship pathways that support student success and economic growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Development & Implementation
  • Ensure alignment with state and federal apprenticeship regulations, including registration, reporting, and compliance requirements.
  • Identify and develop new apprenticeship pathways in response to labor market demands and institutional goals.
  • Manage the development of apprenticeships by collaborating with faculty, deans, and industry partners, including labor unions.

Employer & Community Engagement
  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships with employers, unions, workforce boards, and trade associations to expand apprenticeship opportunities.
  • Serve, in collaboration with other college representatives, in workforce development initiatives, advisory boards, and apprenticeship councils.
  • Engaging with the VP of Advancement & Workforce and Academic Innovation, recruit and support employers in establishing and sustaining apprenticeship partnerships, through established infrastructure and protocols.
  • Act as a liaison between apprentices, employers, and training providers to facilitate clear communication and program success.
  • Support organization and structure for academic program advisory committees

Program Awareness & Outreach
  • Work collaboratively with Marketing to develop and implement program promotional materials and campaigns, including website content, flyers, emails, and social media, to increase program visibility.
  • Collaborate with employers to recruit apprentices, ensuring alignment with program requirements and employer workforce needs.
  • Conduct outreach to prospective students, employers, and community organizations to raise awareness about apprenticeship opportunities.

Program Evaluation & Compliance
  • Monitor apprenticeship program effectiveness through key performance indicators, retention and completion rates, and employer feedback.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant state and federal apprenticeship policies and accreditation requirements.
  • Work with Institutional Effectiveness to manage data collection and reporting efforts to support grant applications, institutional planning, and regulatory compliance.

Financial & Grant Management
  • Manage area budget and applicable grant budgets.
  • Identify opportunities for external funding, including state and federal grants, to support program sustainability and growth.
  • Collaborate with Institutional Advancement to seek funding for apprenticeship programs.

College-wide Strategy and Implementation
  • Serve as a member of the college-wide team focused on increasing and expanding work-based learning in credit and non-credit programs.
  • Support college-wide systems-building for work-based learning initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Career Services, the Center for Adult Education, Corporate and Community Education, and other offices to ensure all students have information needed to access work-based learning opportunities.

Supervision of Program Staff
  • Hire and supervise program staff.


Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree or higher in related field or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • At least 5-7 years of administrative experience leading work in Career Services, Workforce Development, or other work-based learning area
  • Experience supervising staff
  • Experience with apprenticeship models and regulations
  • Experience collaborating with faculty, employers, and funders
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills across multiple constituencies

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)
  • Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse population

Additional Information:
SALARY: Anticipated starting salary range is $120,000.00 - $135,000.00 annually with complete fringe benefit package including competitive health insurance, dental insurance, basic life insurance, long-term disability insurance, paid sick, vacation and personal leave, educational benefits for employee/spouse/dependents, and excellent retirement benefits.
